...Mt Taranaki... |
|
Mt Taranaki stands alone on the West Coast of the North Island of New Zealand, with a near perfect 2518-metre high cone and surrounding Egmont national park. The 200,000 annual visitors to Taranaki’s biggest playground, provides a unique recreational opportunity for the region's residents and visitors. Dominating our weather and everyday life with its ever changing moods.
Residents say if you can see the mountain (Mt Taranaki) - it's going to rain... If you can't see it - it's already raining... It's not as bad as it sounds, with New Plymouth being the second sunniest city in New Zealand.
Mt Taranaki and ranges provides a fantastic backdrop to our macadamia orchard, and also provides shelter against the Southerly winds. Mt Taranaki is the source of more than 50 rivers and streams, with one of them, the Oakura river runs through our property.
If Mt Taranaki and area looks familiar, you might have seen it on the big screen as it was used to film the 2003 production of The Last Samurai starring Tom Cruise.
